Before we talk about hearing from God, we need to talk about who he actually is. Most of us are trying to hear from a God we're not sure we can trust. And that changes everything about whether we're willing to listen.

He delights in you.
Not tolerates. Delights — the Hebrew word in Zephaniah 3:17 is the word for spinning with joy.
He wants to give you good things.
If your father wouldn't give you a stone when you asked for bread, why would God?
He runs toward you.
The father in Luke 15 sees his child coming from far away — and runs. Before the apology. Before the explanation.
He has good plans for you.
Plans for a future, not a verdict. Spoken to exiles who had every reason to doubt. He said it anyway.
Common fears
What if God tells me to do something I don't want to do?
He made you, he knows what you were designed for, and people who said yes didn't end up with lesser lives.
What if I get it wrong?
Samuel misheared three times. Gideon asked repeatedly. God was patient with both.
You can come to God and listen. The one waiting is not a judge with a list — but a Father who already ran toward you before you finished your opening sentence.
